Dostek Inc., owned by Doug Struthers, brings more than three decades of hands-on experience in DNC, Distributed Numerical Control, file transfer, machine tool communication, and CNC connectivity.

Since 1986, thousands of users have relied on Dostek’s DNC systems and software to support communication between computers and machine tools. Dostek built its reputation on practical, dependable DNC solutions that focus on ease of use, broad machine compatibility, and reliable file transfer.

Dostek’s workstation-based DNC software is known as a no-nonsense, solid DNC application with support for hundreds of machine tools. Its approach uses standardized protocol configurations to simplify file management and support for individual machines, reducing complexity for manufacturers that need dependable CNC program transfer.

Although Dostek no longer produces new DNC products, it continues to provide expert service, technical support, consultation, Ethernet DNC/FTP services, software development, technical writing, and support for legacy systems.

Areas of Expertise

DNC Software Support

Dostek’s DNC software for Windows computers supports the transfer of part programs and other data between computers and machine controls using RS-232C serial communication ports.

Ethernet DNC / FTP

Dostek helps manufacturers network modern Ethernet-equipped CNC machine tools for FTP file transfers. FTP DNC allows CNC operators to load and save programs and data directly from the machine control panel, using wired or wireless connections.

BTR / Tape Reader Replacement Support

Dostek’s 440A Behind-the-Tape Reader interface provides an RS-232C retrofit path for older machine controls equipped with punched tape readers. The BTR supports functions such as drip-feeding programs, loading and saving programs between a computer and machine control memory, and loading executive software tapes from a computer.

Dostek no longer produces the 440A BTR, but continues to provide service, support, repairs, and refurbished models when available.
